BOB MARLEY was a Jamaican singer, songwriter and musician who is considered one of the pioneers of reggae music. Marley began his professional musical career in the early '60s after forming Bob Marley and the Wailers. Their debut studio album The Wailing Wailers, released in 1965, contained the single "One Love/People Get Ready", which established the group worldwide as a rising figure in reggae. In the 1970s Bob Marley went on to release solo material incorporating elements of blues, soul, and British rock which enjoyed widespread commercial and critical success. When Marley died, aged 36, in 1981 he was honoured with a state funeral in Jamaica. In 1984 his greatest hits album "Legend" was released and became the world's best-selling reggae album. Marley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and was ranked #11 by Rolling Stone as one of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
