Together with Paul McCartney, John Lennon co-founded the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in history. Other members of the Beatles were the talented George Harrison and Ringo Star, also both songwriters and performers in their own right. Lennon retired from the music business in 1975 but re-emerged with a solo career in 1980. In the meantime, he moved from England to New York, a city he loved. This Novis print of John Lennon is as classic as his music, and represents the time he spent in New York City. Barry Novis has painted John Lennon a number of times, and these portraits have become collectors items, one of them having sold at auction in London to the band Coldplay.
