Freddie Mercury - a British singer, songwriter and lead vocalist of the rock band Queen - is regarded as one of the greatest lead singers in the history of rock music. With his flamboyant stage persona and four-octave vocal range, Freddie Mercury’s theatrical style, astonishing technique and extraordinary vocal register made him a star in every sense of the word, described by Roger Daltry of The Who as “the best virtuoso rock ’n’ roll singer of all time”.

Freddie Mercury wrote most of the songs on Queen’s Greatest Hits album: "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Seven Seas of Rhye", "Killer Queen", "Somebody to Love", "Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy", "We Are the Champions", "Bicycle Race", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", and "Play the Game".

Freddie Mercury died an early and tragic death in November 1991, but in 2003 was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The 2018 biographical film of his life, "Bohemian Rhapsody", was at the time of its release the highest grossing musical biographical film of all time, winning a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture - Drama.
